About Me
Junior scientist with overall experience in marine biology and special focus on metagenomics and species distribution modelling. I obtained my bachelor's degree at the University of Vienna in the field of biology with an emphasis on ecology. I finished my masters in marine biology at the University of Algarve (Faro, Portugal) in 2020. Results from my master thesis identified the prokaryotic community associated with the gorgonian Eunicella labiata and further indicated that relatively simple modifications to standard cultivation protocols allow the cultivation of prevalent bacterial associates of temperate gorgonians. Since April 2020 I am employed at ETH Zurich receiving advanced training in species distribtution modelling under Dr. Meike Vogt's supervision. I will start a PhD in April 2021. The planned PhD position between Prof. Nikolas Gruber (Department of Environmental Systems Sciences, ETH Zurich) and that of Prof. Shinichi Sunagawa (Department of Biology, ETH Zurich) involves the interpretation and modelling of Tara Oceans metagenomic data. |
